Overview
All manuscripts submitted to Berkala Kesehatan Klinik (BKK) must comply with the journal’s Focus and Scope and Author Guidelines. The peer review system is conducted under a double-blind review model, in which the identities of both authors and reviewers are concealed throughout the evaluation process. Each eligible manuscript is assessed by at least two independent reviewers. When reviewer recommendations differ substantially, the final editorial decision is made by the Editor-in-Chief.

Stages of the Review Process
1
Submission Check
Every submitted manuscript is first checked by the editorial office for completeness, conformity with the journal template, and compliance with the author guidelines. At this stage, the editorial team also conducts a plagiarism screening using Turnitin. Manuscripts that do not meet the initial technical and ethical requirements may be returned to the authors for correction or declined before entering peer review.
2
Pre-Review Evaluation
The editorial team evaluates the manuscript’s relevance to the scope of BKK, its originality, scientific merit, and overall presentation quality. Based on this preliminary assessment, the manuscript may proceed to external review, be returned for preliminary revision, or be rejected if it is considered unsuitable for the journal.
3
Peer Review
Suitable manuscripts are assigned to at least two independent reviewers with relevant expertise. Reviewers assess the manuscript based on originality, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, scientific contribution, and clarity of presentation. Reviewer comments and recommendations are then communicated to the authors through the Section Editor while maintaining anonymity under the double-blind system.
4
Author Revision
Authors are required to revise their manuscript in response to reviewer comments and editorial suggestions. Revised submissions may be returned to the same reviewers for further evaluation to ensure that the required corrections and improvements have been addressed adequately.
5
Editorial Decision
After considering the reviewer reports, the Editor-in-Chief makes the final decision on the manuscript. Possible decisions include acceptance, minor revision, major revision, or rejection. When reviewer opinions are conflicting, the Editor-in-Chief has the authority to determine the final outcome of the submission.
6
Editing and Proofreading
Accepted manuscripts proceed to copyediting, proofreading, and layout editing in accordance with the journal format. The galley proof in PDF format is then sent to the author for final checking before publication.
7
Publication
Once all editorial processes are completed and the final version is approved, the manuscript is published online in accordance with the journal’s publication schedule.
